Idle Huskers Remain #1

LINCOLN (BS) -- Despite not playing a game on Saturday, Nebraska is once again the #1 team in this week's Cornerstone BS Poll.

The Huskers (11-0) took Friday and Saturday off before returning to practice on Sunday. The revised schedule provides the Big Red with a full week of practice leading to their Friday matchup with Colorado (8-2).

Despite being ranked #1 all season, it won't mean a thing if NU doesn't win at Colorado. The Huskers must win to receive the North Division berth into the Big XII Championship, and likely a rematch with Oklahoma.

Nebraska has won their last nine meetings against Colorado, but it's been a bumpy ride. They've won the last five by a combined 15 points, including last season's two-point win in the closing seconds.

However, both sides have acknowledged that the past will mean very little when the teams take Folsom Field on Friday. Execution and effort, not history or fate, will ultimately determine the outcome.

Oklahoma (10-1) defeated Texas Tech 31-10 to remain #3. Miami (9-0) is #4 after slipping past Syracuse 59-0. Idle Texas (9-1) is #5. Rounding out the Top 10 is sixth-ranked Florida (9-1), Oregon (9-1), Maryland (10-1), BYU (11-0) and Illinois (9-1).
