Home Away From Home
LAWRENCE (BS) -- With a schedule that features eight home games, Nebraska more or less enjoyed a ninth on Saturday.
Playing before 30,000 red-clad Husker fans among the sellout crowd of 50,750 -- Kansas' first since 1991 -- Nebraska rolled to an easy 51-7 win amid chants of "Let's Go Huskers!"
Nebraska RB Dahrran Diedrick ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns as the Huskers' offensive line opened huge holes all night. He has rushed for 1,097 yards this season.
The teams met for the 96th consecutive year, the longest continuous series in Division I-A history. Nebraska beat Kansas for the 33rd consecutive time, increasing their lead in the all-time series to 83-21-3.
With the win, the Huskers (10-0) retained their #1 ranking in this week's Cornerstone BS Poll. We can only guess that they will remain #1 in the "official" BCS standings.
Following their 42-3 beating of Iowa State, Kansas State (4-4) made an impressive leap to claim the #2 spot. The Wildcats will play #1 Nebraska in Lincoln this Saturday.
Miami (7-0) defeated Temple 38-0 to remain #3. Oklahoma (8-1) is #4 after beating Tulsa 58-0, and Florida (7-1) held strong at #5 after obliterating Vanderbilt 71-13.
Rounding out the Top 10 is sixth-ranked Texas (8-1), Oregon (8-1), Washington (7-1), BYU (9-0) and Colorado (7-2).
