Huskers Solidify #1 Against Unlucky Irish
LINCOLN (BS) - Following their win over Notre Dame, Nebraska cemented their top ranking in the new Cornerstone BS Poll, released on Monday.
The Huskers (3-0) defeated the Irish 27-10 Saturday night before a record crowd of 78,118 at Memorial Stadium. Following a 17-0 first quarter, Nebraska virtually shut down its offense in the second half.
The win, coupled with strong fan poll and computer averages, make Nebraska a solid #1. After Notre Dame's fall from the Top 10, Rice leapfrogged Miami to reach #2 after pounding Duke 15-13.
Oklahoma also moved up to #3 following their 37-10 win over North Texas. Last week's #3, Miami, fell to #4 after edging Rutgers 61-0.
Missouri, a 40-6 winner over Southwest Texas, moved up one spot to 5th. Rounding out the BS Poll Top 10 is Florida, Texas, Fresno State, Florida State and Iowa State.
