Huskers Start Season Ranked #1
Although the BCS won't release its "official" rankings until October, the Cornerstone BS Poll released its pre-season rankings this week with Nebraska in first place to start the season.
The Huskers, despite an average ranking of fourth in the AP and coaches' polls, earned the top spot with favorable scores in the computer, fan, and mascot/uniform components. Last season the Huskers were the first team in the history of the BS Poll to go wire-to-wire as number one.
TCU, Nebraska's first opponent, is ranked second to ensure an early one versus two matchup in Lincoln. Troy State and Notre Dame, the Huskers' next two opponents, are ranked third and fourth, respectively. Florida, the number one team in the AP and coaches' polls, is ranked fifth.
The rest of the BS Poll Top 10 consists of Rice, Miami, Oklahoma, Florida State, and Texas.
